Welcome to Floola's community forum. Here you'll most probably find an answer to any problem you might have with Floola.
Save you some time and before starting a new post please search the forum, there could already be an answer to your question!
You should also take a minute to look at the online documentation where you'll most topics covered.
1: Why is nearly every window that Floola pops out modal? I find that it is extremely annoying, particularly when using the “Add from web” feature and being unable to create a playlist for the items I download from YouTube while said download is occuring.
Next version will have non modal “add from web” window.
2: After aforementioned download and conversion completes, and I find myself able again to create playlists with the “Add to iPod” screen in the front, the “Add to iPod” Advanced Options do not allow me to put the YouTube videos in the newly-created playlist.
Feature added to next version.
3: I suggest that the “Add to iPod”, “Adding Files to iPod”, “X files were added to your iPod” and others be made non-transient. I do not think users of Floola like these windows hovering on top of other applications they use. The “Adding Files to iPod” window usually appears on the top left corner of the screen, forcing me to shift its position to access my Back, Forward, Reload, Stop and Home buttons on my browser. A “Minimize” button would be highly appreciated.
Next version will remember “add to iPod” window position.
4: I think that music and videos deserve being listed together, but why are photos uploaded to the iPod through a separate utility (which happens to be modal), and listed separately? The same goes with notes, calendars and podcasts. Users would certainly like to use the “Add files” window to add photos and text files. They would also like to see at a glance the files on their iPod by looking at the list of items, which currently shows only “Music, Videos, Podcasts and Audiobooks”. To be able to list every file in the same list in alphabetic order might ease the job of managing an iPod. If it becomes troublesome to find a particular group of files, I propose that Floola allow the user to organize his files according to his own tastes, for example in categorized alphabetic order. E.g. , Music could be listed first, then Audiobooks, following that Videos, after which there would be Podcasts, next Photos, Calendars before last and Notes at the end, all ordered alphabetically within the subgroups.
I prefer to keep this separation of medias, since most users are used to iTunes which does a similar separation. In this way each window has it’s own specific buttons, and in case of photos it’s own menubar, that helps and guide the user to access features in the most simple way (think for ex. to the calendar window which allows you to add/remove accounts). You propose an elegant but not necessarily the easiest way to organize media for non advanced users. Moreover changing the current layout requires a big effort, which isn’t justified right now.
Anyhow I greatly appreciate further suggestion and, as you see, I’m willing to add anything that makes Floola better and easier to use.
Sid32, at least for music/videos/podcasts and audiobooks you can use the items->show by options in the menubar.
Thank you! I like the new version! I still need to try it out but it seems that Floola is much better now.
I don’t know if this is illegal or not but could there be..
“Add from Audio disc…”
“Add from DVD”
Shall we make an official Suggestions Forum?
I would like to see a button to update podcasts feed in the podcast window.
Perhaps a form for ‘usability’ suggestions….
Can we “sticky” this thread? It seems to me to be a good idea. That way every body can give their ideas and suggestions in the same place, so that floola and Webmaster dont have to search around a forum with past 1000 posts
Wow. So fast! Thank you!!!!!
Perhaps Artist – Album and Genre on the menu bar could be combined as an ‘Edit’ Perhaps Google Cal’s should be moved under ‘Managed’ instead of tools.
Also, unsure of what happens when I add Artwork. When I add one it takes up the whole artwork box, but when I go back it shrinks, leaving me with white space around it. I guess that Floola resizes artwork.
Still a great program.
I was just wondering, why is practically every menu disabled when an iPod isnt connected? Id think at the very least “Preferences” should be enabled.
