When copying from the ipod to the hard drive I get the subject error.

Pretty obvious error, problem is, you don’t list the track that is the problem nor give any way of solving the problem nor continuing the copy.

It would be nice if I could select all my songs, tell it to copy and it give me a list of problems at the end, not just die mid way because of a path too long error.

Windows, I highly doubt any other details are needed. Try it and you’ll duplicate the problem.

We do need to know what version of windows and what ipod you are using.

lol, you obviously haven’t even tried to reproduce..

Put a song on an IPod with a crazy long name, artist name, album name. Then try to save that song with the crazy long path, name, etc to the computer. You will see what I’m talking about.

Win7 is what I’m using currently, any version will do it though.

Every single IPod I own does it.. I have a Classic, Nano, Touch.

The problem is not the IPod, it’s the fact that your software, when it encounters the above mentioned problem, it reports, “Too long destination pathname”, then just stops. It would be nice if it would not stop but, give options to rename part of the path it’s trying to save to to fix the error. Or at least give an option to continue and give a error list at the end.

Dumping 1000′s of songs at once from ipod to computer with this dead stop is a pain.

Thanks for the info, No need to be rude. But when you troubleshoot an issue the more details you have the better it goes.

Oh, I know, sorry if you thought I was being rude by pointing out the obvious.. I know details are helpful, but in this case, no level of detail will assist any more then just doing it. On any Windows OS and any IPod.

Anyway, thanks. I’d appreciate the fixes/additions, if not, I’m fine with that as well.

Take care.
