Hi, just wanted to make an initial statement that I really do enjoy Floola, certainly the best alternative to itunes for my 160GB Ipod classic.
Anywhos, there is a recent problem arising. When exiting or entering floola with ipod connected, everything is a-ok. Yet as soon as I try to add a file, my ipod library gets corrupted showing up as only 3 files, and opening floola with it connected gives an “init error, mhod 2,3″ message. Repairing with floola works and recovers it just fine (I select the oldest library backup option), in which it’ll open in floola again and on my ipod no prob. But as soon as I want to transfer a song onto it again, the whole thing gets corrupted and I have to repeat the process.
This is a very recent situation and has existed even prior to updating to v3.4. Previous uses have come up with no hassle.
Anywhos, if anyone has anything to say about this, that would be wonderful. Once again, thanks for a fine product.
Can you try to repair again, then run iTunes 9, finally trying with Floola again?
I found the issue and a fix will be available in Floola 5.5.
The problem occurs only when the if you’re a long term Floola user and never used a version of iTunes 8.x or newer.
If you’re facing this problem you can either:
- Wait for 5.5 to be available and continue using 5.3.1 in the meantime. You’ll need to repair answering “yes” to question “was the problem caused by Floola?”
- Perform a full database rebuild with 5.4. You’ll need to answer “no” to question “Was the problem caused by Floola”. Please note that with this method you’ll loose all your playlists and ratings.
For the repair remember to unplug the iPod, start Floola and choose “Tools->Advanced->Repair iPod”.
Ah my, quite a faster response than I expected. I’m glad to hear it’s an issue being worked on. I’ll hold off from transferring files onto my ipod till the next patch. Definitely good to know it’s being quickly remedied. Thank you for your consideration.
I’m having the same problem, where do I find version 5.3.1 to download?
I am a very longtime user. Never wanted to use iTunes. Now I have to start over. I am at a loss. F****** Apple. This why I have been using Floola. Great Software so why not just remove 5.4 from the site. I got this error and now I cannot get rid of it…..
When will 5.5 be available? Please let me know. Can this be resolved soon. I have no way of getting to my music and now I have to rebuild my Database???This sucks…
Hi, this may seem a bit like necroing, but I was the one that originally posted this thread, and just want to bring an update to the situation.
As mentioned by Floola, I was to wait until Floola 5.5 came for a fix on this bug. Well, it did (technically) via beta 1, so I figured I’d give it a go. It came up with a message stating that I used incompatible software and whatnot and asks to update my database. While I never used anything outside of Floola 5.4 since the last predicament, I figured I’d answer yes. It finished its job then I restarted Floola 5.5 beta 1. Everything looks fine and I tested by closing Floola while disconnecting my Ipod. Everything on my ipod looks like it’s in shape. No harm done.
Now I decided to proceed and add a few songs. Then closed Floola with eject. The following has occurred:
– Main menu changed. Certain list items added and others gone.
– Playlist list item in Main menu shows 2 playlists available as opposed to many others that I had.
– Amount of songs shows to be accurate!
– Amount of videos shows to be accurate!
– Search for anything shows up nothing
– Under Music, Playlists, Artists, Albums, etc. shows up 0, Search says accurate amount of music files, and I cannot enter Cover Flow.
– Movies list item shows accurate amount yet cannot enter Movies list.
This is what happens when I reconnect ipod and open Floola:
– All songs, playlists, etc. are intact!
– The songs added using Floola 5.5 beta 1 are intact!
– When clicking to Repair ipod, it says my Ipod seems to be ok, and asks if I’m sure I should repair it.
All of this is fixed when I repair Ipod with floola and select database that was before using 5.5 beta 1 for the first time. Naturally, the songs added using 5.5 beta 1 are gone. It should also be added that when it finishes the repair, it automatically ejects ipod and closes Floola. I don’t recall that being normal, but that may just be my memory.
As a reminder, I am using the 160 GB Ipod Classic.
I hope any of this will be of use with improving 5.5 and will be willing to add further comments about it later. At the moment, I will stick to using an older version of Floola. Thank you for this exceptional product.
okay, i have the same problem described here. long time user of floola. i really don’t want to have to back up the entire thing just so i can have i tunes restore it, because i’m sure that will delete everything. is there a solution coming soon, cause i don’t want to take this drastic measure, nor do i want to go much longer without my ipod. Thanks for the great software up to this point, however, i’ve raved about it in all circles and it’s made my life super convenient.
